Pasta Etiquette: How to Eat Pasta like an Expert?

Pasta is an honoured tradition of Italy and is one of the most loved foods in the world. It is the most preferred choice for dinner and has passed the test of time by taking various forms such as spaghetti and elbow. Catering to the needs of customers, pasta suppliers in India have introduced great pasta varieties like Amori, fusilli, etc. While everyone is aware of the types of pasta, there is less knowledge about how to eat the different varieties of it.

Pasta is that kind of food which must be handled graciously. It requires detailed knowledge about each type of pasta to consume it the right way. Moreover, one is also required to know different kinds of equipment available in the market, which can aid this consumption process. How to eat pasta is also among the most discussed topics, so here's a quick guide for consuming this heavenly delight in the right manner.

The Real Question: Cut or Wind?

The length, width, and type of the pasta dictate whether you should cut it or wind it around the fork-tines.  If you are eating thin noodles or instant pasta, then it is eaten with a fork. Just pick two-three strands and wound around the fork tines. Indeed, some pasta strands might hang from the fork, quietly slurp them up, into your mouth.
Technically, you should not cut the spaghetti. Just separate some of the pasta from the huge chunk using a single tine of the fork and twirl it to wrap it tightly. If your pasta is al-dente and the sauce is very liquid, you must use a spoon to prevent splattering. The right way is to use a spoon to support the twirling process and to collect the sauce.
If ravioli or wide noodles are served, then these are meant to be cut and eater either with a spoon or fork, respectively.

Be Perfectly Proper

It’s quite common for people to get confused regarding what to eat first, whether the pasta, side or the salad accompanying the dish. One should remember that pasta is the main dish and should be consumed with a side, then you should move towards the salad.
It is often seen that people use soup bowls or deep bowls to serve pasta; however, the correct way to serve it is on a plate. You can use shallow dishes for conveniently eating soup-based pasta, but a bowl is not an appropriate choice for pasta meals.
These pasta etiquettes can take us a long way, moreover adapting to newer techniques always adds value to our personality. You may find some variations in the customs in various places concerning pasta. But, no one would disagree on using a fork. So, when in doubt, you can always use a fork to eat your pasta. Pasta La-vista Folks!
